☕ A thought I can’t shake today

Helping Women Delight in God’s Word

👋Hey Reader,

As I write this, I'm listening to one of my favorite worship songs, Preference by Rachel Morley 🎶 Here's a snippet of the lyrics:

What if it doesn't look like what I thought it would?
What if You come in ways I didn't know you could?
Offend my mind, reveal my heart—
I won't worship my preference anymore.

This song reminds me so much of Christmas! 🎄 I can't help but imagine Mary singing it whenever I listen. Surely she never dreamed that the Messiah would arrive as a baby—much less disrupt her entire life by choosing her as His mother! 👶✨ But, despite everything, she still chose to say yes to Him.

As we trek through this season of Advent, I wonder where we might be choosing preference over presence: missing Jesus, because He doesn't always show up where we expect Him to. 🤔

Sometimes the advent of Christ in our lives is dramatic, like it was for Mary. But, as Mentor Mama discussed in this week's podcast, He also shows up in ways that are so ordinary we might overlook Him.🕯️

Is there a place in your life that feels too small, too mundane, or too messy for Him to visit?

Friend, I'm praying that the Holy Spirit would show you Jesus' presence—not just where you expect Him, but the places that you think He would never show up in. 🩷🙏

Jesus, "don't just come as we want You, come as You are." 🕊️

With love,

Ashley, Taylor and Mentor Mama (Ellen)

P.S. If you want to dive deeper into embracing God’s grace in the ordinary moments, I shared a new video about that this week. Would love for you to watch! :)))

For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; God the only Son, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.
– John 1:16-18 (ESV)
